ps2 has not been dropped because of sonys 10 year rule and because it is still making a profit(albeit a small one), once the 10 year cycle is up the ps2 will be dropped and ps2 games will be available on PSN that play on the ps3.
I'm buying XIII but i am still p1ssed about it.
My main issue with it going multiplat was that there will be NO duel audio for the ps3 version despite there being plenty of room for it on the blu-ray disc, blame can be placed firmly on the 360 so why can't i be p1ssed? i have to put up with the terrible american dubbing.
A little effort goes a long way, it's been a well known fact for a long time now that the game with be an Action-RPG that will blend FF & KH styles together and have a mature theme, just that description left me watering at the mouth first time i read it.
Coming from a person who thinks Halo is the be all and end all your opinion means very little(if anything at all).

Seems like they went with extra pockets this time, still does not look very good imo, hopefully it's alot better in game.
While i won't rule out the possibility of it going multiplat, i'd bet on it staying exclusive, sony probably already have the deal locked it, sony could even be giving them things that are worth more to them then a one off cheque from MS.

There is 2 main issues JRPG suffer from:
1)The combat system of almost every JRPG has changed very little.
2)Most JRPGs don't have impressive visuals, hell if you play the ones on the DS and some on PSP they are 2D, even some on consoles are 2D.
I understand that visuals aren't the most important thing for most JRPG fans, but won't a game be much more impressive if on-top of the superb story and great combat system it had great visuals to match?

You are not alone, i didn't play it on the ps2(didn't even know grandia was on ps2 at the time) but i played the psone grandia way back and loved every minute of it.
